Adventure On Foot

Privacy

Draft, 1 October 2026. Still being reviewed before sign-in opens to everyone.

Adventure On Foot is a small, independent project run from the UK. This page says what we keep about you, why, and what you can do about it. The short version: we keep what you need for your logbook, nothing is sold, and there are no ads or tracking.

What we keep

  • Your account: your email address, name and username. If you sign in with Google or Apple, we get the name and email address they share. Your password is handled by our sign-in provider; we never see it.
  • Your logbook: the sections and walks you tick off and the dates, and anything you choose to add: notes, who you walked with, ratings.
  • Imports, if you ask for one: if you bring in walks from another app’s export, we keep only the dates and the sections they match. We don’t keep the GPS tracks.

We don’t record walks, track your location or use advertising or analytics cookies.

Who can see it

Your log is private unless you make it public. Pulse shows what’s being walked across everyone’s logs; it names a walker only if their log is public, and otherwise says “a walker”.

Cookies and your browser

Signing in uses cookies to keep you signed in. They are needed for the site to work and are used for nothing else. A few preferences, such as the sample logbook, are kept in your own browser and never reach us.

Who looks after it for us

  • Neon stores the database, in London.
  • Vercel runs the website.
  • Clerk handles sign-in and account details. It is based in the United States and works under data protection terms that cover transfers from the UK.
  • Google and Apple, only if you choose to sign in with them.

Why we can use it

To give you the logbook you signed up for (UK GDPR: performing our agreement with you), and to keep the site secure (our legitimate interests).

Keeping and deleting

We keep your account and log until you delete them. You can ask for a copy of everything we hold about you, ask us to correct it, or ask us to delete your account and log. You can also complain to the Information Commissioner’s Office (ico.org.uk).
